The dial will have the range indicated on the bottom at the end of the pipette. Depending upon the range the pipette may have a red line that acts as a decimal point in the measurement. It is important to double check the pipette that you are using and the measurement each time you measure a sample. Set the micropipette to measure 5 L. Put the correct tip onto the pipette. Be sure to replace the box lid immediately to maintain sterile condition of tips. Check to see that you have a tip in place!! Depress the button to the first stop. Hold it in this position as you place the tip into the dye, which is in a microfuge tube. Release the button sucking up the exact amount you need. Touch off the tip on the side of the tube. Move the tip to the destination of the sample. *5. Complete the transfer to your team's empty microfuge tube by depressing the button to extrude the sample. Press through the first stop to the second stop. Touch off the tip on the side of the tube. Remove the pipette from the tube before releasing the button. *6. Measure a second 5 L sample of dye & transfer the sample to a gel; observe the following tips --make sure that the gel is under buffer and that the wells are completely submerged. --hold the pipette with 2 hands to steady yourself --put the tip just t the top of the wall; the sample will sink down into the well --squeeze the sample out slowly; press through the first stop to the second stop. --be sure to move the pipette away from the well before you release the button. 7. Eject the tip into the "used tip container" using the ejector button. Rinse used tips before the contents have time to try Use a new tip each time!!
